Question regarding giving Reputations Empty Question regarding giving Reputations

Ahh..i still dont get it why would someone give repuations to anyone he/she knows? Not because he/she had given contribution for the forum, or even won in any contest, isnt that the reason for giving away reputations, and not by mere acquaintances?

I hope some enlighten me.Thank you.
